Our client, a leading nationwide clinical research organization with multiple sites across the US, is seeking an experienced Medical Director of Clinical Research to join their Atlanta team.

Role Overview
As the Medical Director of Clinical Research, you will provide clinical leadership and oversight for clinical trials conducted at our client’s Atlanta research facility. You will be responsible for ensuring the safety of clinical trial participants while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams on all aspects of clinical research from Phase I to Phase IV studies. This role requires medical expertise, leadership abilities, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of clinical practice and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide clinical expertise and oversight for the conduct of clinical trials
- Lead and supervise a team of researchers and clinical staff involved in clinical studies
- Ensure successful execution of research protocols according to FDA regulations and GCP guidelines
- Evaluate study volunteers’ eligibility for participation in clinical trials
- Perform physical examinations and assessments as required by research protocols
- Review all diagnostic reports and provide clinical direction to the study team
- Build positive relationships with internal teams, external medical professionals, and opinion leaders
- Work collaboratively with colleagues in Regulatory Affairs, Clinical Operations, and Patient Engagement
- Complete all industry-required training and maintain necessary credentials
- Assess patient health through interviews and physical examinations
- Communicate information to patients regarding diagnosis and treatment goals
Required Qualifications
- MD or DO degree with 10+ years of post-training experience as a physician
- Current medical license in Georgia with no history of license suspension or debarment
- Current board certification in specialty area
- Advanced knowledge of treatments and drug interactions
- Strong leadership qualities and ability to provide clinical oversight to study teams
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to build rapport with patients and pharmaceutical sponsors
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous clinical research experience
- Experience as a Principal Investigator on clinical trials
- Familiarity with FDA regulations and GCP guidelines
